Description
Peter of Selkirk, son and heir of Thomas of Selkirk, burgess of Berwick-upon-Tweed, has approved, ratified and, in all things and by all things, established the donation which Sir Thomas of Selkirk, his father, made to Melrose Abbey, whose charter he copies in full. He also approves, ratifies and establishes that donation which his father made to Melrose Abbey of a certain annual pension owed to his father from Lady Amiflys, wife of the late Thomas of Moray, in her legitimate widowhood. This is to be held and had by the monks and their successors under the following condition, viz.: only if, by fate, Peter may happen to die without an heir procreated from his body in legal materimony, or if any of his heirs in future may happen to die without an heir created from his body in legal matrimony.
