Description
Alicia, called Chaplain, daughter of the late Adam Chaplain, burgess of Aberdeen, out of poverty and need, has sold, renounced, quitclaimed and by this her present charter established to Sir Henry Martin, chancellor of Aberdeen, half of the croft which is called ly Spytalhillis (the Spittal Hills) lying in the territory of the burgh of Aberdeen, which formerly belonged to Roger son of Adam, belonging to her by reason of Helen, her mother, for a certain sum of money which Sir Henry paid to her in her great need, concerning which she declares Sir Henry and all his [men] quit and fully absolved. The land is to be held and had by Sir Henry and his heirs and assignees without any reservation of her and her heirs, and Henry and his heirs and assignees are to annually render to the king twelve pennies of silver at the customary times, for everything which they may be able to extract from the said croft in perpetuity. Alicia promises warrandice.
