Boniface VIII writes to the abbots of Kelso and Jedburgh, and to the prior of Coldingham, noting that it has been set forth to him by Master John of Berwick, rector of the church of Renfrew, that he and his predecessors were allowed the teinds of fish and other things within the parish of the same church paid by the parishioners; yet, the bishop of Glasgow and Master Alexander de Kennedy, his official, have presumed to extort a moiety of the fish and other things which the parishioners take to Glasgow to sell. Master John has humbly prayed to the pope that full justice be made to him, thus the pope commands the addresses to warn and induce the bishop of Glasgow and his official, to make satisfaction within one month to Master John for his loss of teinds.
