William de la Chambre (de Camera), baillie and burgess of Peebles, John, vicar of the church of Peebles, Adam of ‘Horde’ (Kirkurd), David son of Andrew, Nicholas of ‘Northincheton’, Reginald of ‘Hardegrepes’, John son of Walter Greathead, Henry ‘Ravesmaughe’, Simon brother of Walter, Simon son of Geoffrey, Peter son of Geoffrey, Roger Blind, burgesses and the whole community of the burgh of Peebles, having come into the allegiance and obedience of their lord, the lord Edward, king of England etc., promise for themselves and their heirs, upon pain of body and possessions, that they will serve him well and loyally against all men, etc.; they have sworn this on the holy gospels; each of them has performed fealty to their lord, the king of England.
