King Edward I to his clerk, John of Sandale, his chamberlain of Scotland, noting that his clerk, William de Bevercote, his chancellor of Scotland, has petitioned the king as warden of the lands which he holds which were the late Henry of Braid’s in Scotland, and which he held in chief of the king, to hold these lands during the minority of Hnery’s heir, in subvention of William’s expenses in office. The king commands John to hold an inquest by the oath of worthy and legitimate man of the aforesaid parts.
