Description
David, king of Scots, since an alliance was made between his progenitor and his people and the king of France and observed for a long time, and wishing this to continue, gives and grants his beloved and faithful representatives Robert of Erskine, his kinsman, and John le Grant, knights, and Norman of Leslie, his esquire, the bearers of these letters, power to renew and enlarge the said alliance for the king, and his prelates, nobles, and the community of his kingdom of Scotland, either by oaths on his soul, by their sureties, or in other ways.
