King Alexander II to Henry, king of England; writes informing him that he has authorised bearers of these letters, H. de Mortimer, his clerk, and Henry of Stirling, his cousin, to postpone if necessary to a certain time the day agreed for his marriage to King Henry's sister, that is [until] Monday next after day of Holy Trinity (i.e., 7 June 1221). He approves what they may decide in this matter, according to writings under their seals, saving agreements made concerning marriage authenticated by seals of King Henry and his magnates.
