Alexander of Islay, son and heir of Sir Angus son of Donald lord of Islay, has inspected and handled (palpasse) the charter of his lord father, and found it not to be erased, destroyed, or in any place tainted or reprehensible, in the following words (as 3/31/3). He ratifies this donation, grant and confirmation, in perpetuity; and nothing from abundance, as it will be collected from elsewhere, by the dispute over all affairs; he gives, grants, and establishes by his present charter the aforesaid church to the aforesaid monks as in the script. In addition to his own seal, the seals of Sir Laurence, bishop of Argyll, and Sir Robert Brus, earl of Carrick, have been attached
