Pope Alexander III writes to Ansketill of Ryedale, knight, establishing those things which Walter of Ryedale, his brother, bequeathed to him, namely the villas of Whittons (ROX), Lilliesleaf (ROX) and Brawby (Yorkshire), and all other property anyone has conferred on him. He also establishes the convention between Ansketill and Uhtred, the priest, regarding the villa of Lilliesleaf, concluded with the assent of both parties, through the mediation of King Malcolm and made firm by his script.
