Description
Robert of Lyne, son and legitimate heir of David of Lyne, notes that there was a court case over the chapel of Lyne (PEB) between himself and Waltheof, his paternal uncle, on one side, and Gregory, persona of Stobo, on the other, by the authority of the lord pope, in the presence of Sir J[ohn], bishop of Whithorn, and his fellow judges, and a final sentence was made by them against Robert and his heirs, and for Gregory and his church of Stobo, as mother church of the chapel of Lyne, by which Robert quitclaimed rights which he had in the said chapel of Lyne to the church of Stobo and the bishops of Glasgow, patrons of the said church, and the personas of Stobo.
