In the year and Indiction recorded before, on 15 July, at the place named immediately above [Aberdeen], there being present the lord Anthony, bishop of Durham, and the noble lords, John Wake, John of Hastings, Peter Corbet, Brian fitz Alan, and Robert of Hilton, knights, and the notary, the noble lords, Norman of Leslie, Alexander of Lamberton, John of Glenesk, John Stirling of Moray, Patrick of Ogilvie, John of Garioch, William of Clunie, Thomas Durward called the Usher, knights of Scotland, Alexander of Straiton, Gilbert of Mar, Sir William Comyn, provost of St Andrews, coming into the trust and obedience of the king of England, annulled the alliances, contracts, agreements, and pacts that were at any time entered into with the king of the French against the king of England in their name; and having taken the holy gospels and kissed them, they performed fealty to the lord king of England; and upon their fealty performed in this way, they made their letters patent, sealed with their pendant seals.
