Edward [king of England], writes to his sworn-man, Ingram de Guines, or his lieutenant, and the people of Westerkirk in Eskdale, and to Walter de Teye or his lieutenant and to his people in the same place, making known that he has appointed his sworn-man, Simon of Lindsay, as chief keeper in the country and parts aforesaid. He commands them to be attentive and obedient to him.
