Document 5/7/0 (Stevenson, Docs., ii, no. 611)

Description
[Robert de Tilliol, keeper of Lochmaben Castle] informs the king that he has rejoiced them much by the rescue which he has promised them, and that they will do his commands as far as they are able. They give him to understand as a certainty that John de Soules and the earl of Buchan are lying at Loudoun and Sir Simon Fraser at Stanhouses and Sir Alexander of Abernethy and Sir Herbert de Morham. Wherefore if it pleases the king to send them 100 armed horse, with a good chieftain tomorrow at the latest. Be informed that the country is rising because they have no troops to ride upon them.
