David, king of Scots, has inspected a charter and donation of Agnes of Crambeth and found it neither erased nor cancelled, and truly sealed with the seals of the venerable fathers in Christ Lords Walter and John, by the grace of God, abbots of Culross and Inchcolm beside Inverkeithing, Michael of Wemyss, lord of the same, Andrew de Valognes lord of Dalginch, David of Wemyss, lord of Cameron, knights, and of Alexander of Stirling. [Charter of Agnes of Crambeth, daughter and one of the heiresses of the late Duncan of Crambeth, to James Vallance.] The king ratifies, approves, and confirms this charter of the lands of Crambeth (KNR), Cleish (KNR), Lochgelly (FIF), Balbairdie (FIF), and 'Athfriny' (ANG) together with Agnes's right to the lands of Bogie (FIF) and Cockairney (KNR) and Dalqueich (KNR), and gives these lands to the aforesaid James [Vallance] and his heirs procreated with Agnes, or for John's lifetime in the event that they have no children, saving the king's service owed and wont from those lands.
20 August 1353
20 August regnal year 25. Following A.A.M. Duncan in SHR 68 (1989), the regnal year calculation of this document was correct rather than being short, making it 1353 rather than 1354.
