Description
Robert, steward of Scotland, lieutenant of the most serene prince Lord David, by the grace of God, king of Scots, to the justiciars, sheriffs, grieves and their baillies. Arbroath abbey have demonstrated that they are exempt with their lands and their men from common aids, tallages, and contributions due to the liberties and privileges, as much from their regality as from pure and perpetual alms. The abbey should not be prejudiced by their provision a subsidy for the siege of Perth due to the needs of the kingdom required at the time. He commands and instructs the officers of the lord king not to interfere with the abbey's regality without express command.
