Description
Pope Urban IV commands the bishops of Dunkeld, Brechin, and Ross to examine the birth and attainments of Master Walter of Baltroddie, canon of Caithness, elected by the dean and chapter to that see, and, on finding him worthy, to examine and ratify his papal dispensation to hold two benefices, and to appoint him bishop, causing due obedience to be paid him by the clergy and people of the diocese, and to consecrate him, receiving his oath of fealty to the pope and the Roman church. If not, some other fit person is to be appointed.
