John of Musselburgh, master, official (d.p.1279)

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 423: John occurs as Master in 1274 and, after 8 April 1275 he was appointed archdeacon of Ross. He first appears in a Glasgow context and is called 'official of/in Teviotdale' and 'official of the archdeacon of Teviotdale', meaning that he may have been assisting Nicholas of Moffat, archdeacon of Teviotdale. He was an official of St Andrews, which he might have held since 1273. He was also a clerk of the provender for Alexander III. He died after 9 May 1279 Watt and Murray, Fasti, 248: John occurs 1241x74 as official of the archdeacon of Teviotdale. He moved to the officiality of St Andrews 15 Oct 1273x18 July 1274.
