Alexander of Edinburgh, master, clerk of Bishop David

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 173: Alexander occurs as Master in the familia of Bishop David of Bernham of St Andrews in 1240, and again in November 1247. He acted as an assessor to judges-delegate in a case between Dryburgh Abbey and the rector of Lauder (BWK) in May 1248, and was appointed by Bishop David, with William de Maule, archdeacon of Lothian, to settle details concerning vicars of Holyrood, in 1251. He perhaps came from Edinburgh or was beneficed there and may be the same as Alexander, dean of Aberdeen who may have retired in Edinburgh in 1239.
