Biography
Handbook of British Chronology, 512: Máel Domnaig (Maldoven) was the son and heir of Alwine, earl of Lennox (d.1208×14). Máel Domnaig was styled earl of Lennox between 1208 and 4 Dec. 1214 and died after 12 March 1251 and was succeeded by his grandson, Malcolm (d.1303×05). Earl Máel Domnaig became earl of Lennox at some point between 2 Nov. 1208 and 4 Dec. 1214, and died at some point between 12 Mar. 1251 and 1265, when a papal confirmation refers to him as deceased (2/146/15). His wife, Elizabeth, may have been a member of the Stewart family, but the evidence for this is probably circumstantial. (MHH) He had nine known brothers: Aulay (Amlaib), Dougal (Dubgall), Mael Coluim (Malcolm), Gilchrist (Gillecrist/Cristin), Murdoch (Murethach), Donnchad (Duncan), Fearchar (Farquhar), Henry and Corc, and one sister called Eve. He had two sons, Mael Coluim and Donnchad.
